Tidbits.

Nothing overly exciting happening in our neck of the woods... so here's a little mish mash of what's going on.

-- I really really really want to join a gym or health club in town. Not only would it be great for my health and goal to get rid of my baby weight, but it would be good for the boys to be in a small daycare environment and have some mommy time. However, our budget just does not allow for it. We have cut back in so many areas but the utility bills at 2 houses are killing us.

-- Jaxon will be 2 next week! We are having a birthday party for him on Monday. We will have 9 kids (ages 2-4) here, and 11 adults... yep, in our tiny house. We're having a Cars theme, since my son is uber-obsessed with the movie... it won't be anything fancy but I am really excited to celebrate with good friends of ours, and his. I'm trying really hard to not dwell on the idea of none of our family being here... it doesn't seem real yet.

-- I am only about 10 pounds away from being at my pre-pregnancy weight, yet my body feels so far from that. My shape is completely different, and my belly... yeah, lets not even go there.

-- MY BOYS ARE HEALTHY!!! Ahhh, what an amazing feeling! Jaxon started coughing on Saturday so I nipped it in the bud and called the doctor on-call, told them about Cohen's diagnosis earlier that week, and they called in a prescription for him. I was so thankful they did that and didn't wait until it got worse.

-- Something happened last night that I never ever thought would in Waco... it snowed! Some parts of town got 5 inches, and I think we got close to that here. So fun... this Midwestern girl is very happy :)

-- On a related note, because of the cold weather here, our pipes have been frozen since Tuesday. The cold water works, but the hot water does not. Weirdest thing ever... we were able to go to some friends yesterday to shower, which we were thankful for since we were all a little stinky. And if you know my husband, you can imagine how crazy he is going... he is one of those people that shower first thing in the morning and will shower multiple times a day if he gets sweaty at all. Showers in the morning, mows the lawn, then showers again. Tomorrow it will be in the 40's, so we're hoping it will thaw out then.

-- I had an amazing birthday! My husband spoiled me rotten. He made me breakfast, got us Chick Fil A for lunch which we took to the park to have a picnic, had naps in the afternoon {you know you're getting old when...} and then had a date later that evening! This was the first time in SO long that I have been without the boys alone with my husband, so it was such a refreshing and fun time together. We ordered a glass of wine and shared it... haha!

-- I go through stages in my life where I feel safe and secure and then other stages where I feel like I'm living in fear. Fear about death, fear about all the terrible things in the world, fear about my boys and something happening to them. Can anyone relate to that? My husband reminded me last night that God is truly in control of our lives and no matter where we live, that will never change. So what if we live in a not-safe-and-very-scary town, God is still in control. It sounds cliche, but it's a good reminder.

I think that's all for now... everyone have a great weekend!

  1. First of all, I'm so glad your boys are both doing well. It makes a WORLD of difference when that happens.

Second of all, I wanted to tell you about this just in case you're interested or qualified. We just joined the YMCA and although we didn't qualify I noticed that membership pricing is income based. I think they also have a program to help people out who want to join a gym but cannot afford it. I just checked and it looks like there are some YMCA's in Waco so you might want to check out their website. They have a great "child watch" program! Hope this helps.

And lastly, can I relate to living in fear? Oh honey, you and I could talk for HOURS, I'm sure of it. We will meet someday (don't worry, I won't ever forget you) and we'll chat :)
