Cancellation.

Up and down... Up and down... lots of downs.

I feel like deleting the last post because it just makes me sad.  It brings me to tears reading "I finally feel like I can breathe", because all the sudden, all my air is gone again.  The plans that we thought were happening are no longer.  Exactly a week before Tyler was supposed to be home the company called him and said they no longer have the budgeting for his new job.  Essentially laid-off without even starting.

So that's that.  My husband is no longer coming home, he's still working in Denver ... although now they have given all the contractors a heads-up that they are going to be doing layoffs so I'm not sure how much longer he'll be out there ... maybe a week, maybe two weeks, or maybe he'll be one of the few contractors that gets to stay.  Which leaves us completely back to square one, him looking for a new job and once again praying that somehow we'll be settled and with health insurance by the time late October comes and baby boy #2 arrives.

I just wish I could just have a break from my life.  Jaxon brings such joy to my heart daily, and despite the stress of raising him alone and feeling terrible about him being without his daddy, I find reasons to smile and thank God for the blessings I do have, and try my hardest to focus on the things I don't.

But this weekend is hard.  He was supposed to be home yesterday.  Today we're supposed to be doing nothing, just relaxing and trying to spend every waking second together before he started his new job on Monday.  He's supposed to be laughing and playing with Jaxon while I make our infamous favorite Saturday lunch... mac 'n cheese.  ;)

Thanks for walking along this journey with us ... I know my blog has been pathetic and full of ups and downs... just hang on with me, hopefully sometime soon life will smooth out and just be more UP and not so much DOWN.

Sweet sweet relief.

Well, the good news came earlier than expected ...  I'm here to announce that my husband just accepted a position here in the KC area and starts Aug 2!

He'll be working at an Engineering Firm, working right alongside another guy to help develop and maintain avionics equipment.

We are beyond excited to be able to stay in the KC area and be together again (permanently!!) in just 2 short weeks.

I finally feel like I can breathe again.  This is the first good news we've gotten in a very long time.

Hooray! If that doesn't make for a great start to the weekend I don't know what does!

Pure crazyness.

Wondering where in the world I am?  Here's a quick recap of the last 2 weeks of my life.

Drove to Columbia for my Dad's 50th birthday. Had to stop at McD's for a snack wrap only 20 minutes from the restaurant.  Yes, being pregnant makes you do weird things.  While there, Jaxon fell down Gpa & Gma's flight of hardwood stairs, luckily all it did was scare him to death.  A couple days later he was playing with my Dad's 5-pound weights and somehow ended up falling onto them (I was in the bathroom at the time so I am still not sure how it happened).  He got a bump the size of an egg.  No, seriously.  An egg.  It was terrible... made mama cry and was this close to rushing him to the ER because of how it swelled up and bruised immediately.  2 weeks later he still has a black eye.

Stayed in Columbia for 3 days, then drove 5 more hours to Northern Iowa to spend 4th of July with my inlaws.  While we were there, Jaxon caught strep throat.  Not exactly sure where, but my poor little man now has an egg on his forehead, a black eye, and strep throat.   His fever got as high as 103 one night which makes for a very restless night for mama, worrying about my boy.  A couple days later I realized he was also teething ... good 'ole molars finally coming in.  The next day he slipped and fell on their wet garage cement floor and got a bump on the back of his head.

Rough week for my little boy?  I think so.

My husband was able to fly in for the weekend of our anniversary.  He got in late on the 9th (our 5 year anniversary!) and had to leave Sunday evening, but it was still a fabulous weekend together.  Hopefully I will have some exciting news to share that came from him being home for such a short time . . .

My inlaws stayed for a few more days and helped me pack up my house, aren't they great?!  We got about 90% of it done, the only thing left is the furniture and misc things that I'll need in the next few weeks while I'm still living here.  But otherwise everything is in boxes in my garage.  Makes me happy that it's packed already, meaning I don't have to do it alone, but it makes me sad that it's packed period.  I had a few tears slip out of my eyes while packing ... especially while packing Jaxon's room.  So many amazing memories here, but I am looking forward to making some together with my husband in our new home, wherever we may be once we can finally be together again.

Oh wait ... forgot to mention, Angie moved her wedding up from Oct 2 to July 24 (which is NEXT weekend!)  I am so excited but we have lots to do in the next week, including a fun bachelorette party for me to plan before Saturday.  And to do this while watching a 1-year old who is still recovering from strep ... AND now he decided to share it with me, so at this point now I also have strep... no voice and a wicked sore throat.  I've been teaching him to share, but he must not have gotten the "don't share your sickness with your pregnant mama" memo ... oh well. :)

Book review.

For the first time since Jaxon was born (yes, he is 17 months old...) I finished a book!

My mom recommended this book to me and once I picked it up I literally couldn't put it down.  Jaxon even sat on my lap one day while I read a few chapters, he must have known how bad momma wanted to keep going with this one!

Sparks’s novel, “The Lucky One”, is the story of a Marine who survives three different tours in Iraq.  Convinced that his good luck has come from a photograph he carried with him at all times of a girl he never met, he sets out to find his “good-luck charm”.

If you get a chance, definitely check it out!
