Warning: I'm in a bad mood.

I've been thinking.  (Scary, right?)

Do you ever wonder if having a blog/twitter/facebook/myspace, etc prevents your friends and/or family from keeping in better contact with you?  Like, they don't feel like it's necessary to call or meet up with you from time to time because instead they can just find out how you're feeling/what you're doing/what's new just by reading your blog or following you on twitter?

I do.  I honestly feel like I would have closer relationships with my friends and family if I didn't have a blog - because heaven forbid, they'd actually have to call or write to see how I'm doing.

Vent over.

  1. Yup, I read Glenn's blog about it the other day as well and it really struck a cord.

I only have 2 IRL friends who veiw my blog, so it is virtually not a factor. As far as facebook though, I've severely limited my time on it to force any friendships that survived on it to either take flight or fail. I've probably lost a few friends {some intentional} because of my lack of participation, but it makes me value the people who will actually call me all the more.

  2. i would probably agree...it almost replaces emails because they just read what you'd probably write them anyways on your blog.
