Some Iphone pictures.

Here's a few random pictures from my husbands Iphone.  Enjoy!!

We've been having some crazy scary storms in Kansas, and I think it scares us even more now that we're homeowners.  The thought of losing our home to a tornado is devastating!  Anyways, here's a couple pictures of some cool clouds we saw before last nights storm.

My husband is an Avionics Technician, which means he installs sweet computer/electronic parts into planes.  Here's one of the planes he's currently working on.  Sweet, huh?

Another perk of his sweet job is that he gets to travel at random times.  He went into work the other day and they asked him to fly to Chicago for the day.  Sure beats being in an office all day!  Here's a couple pictures of them flying between two sets of clouds.

Have a great day... TGIF!

I think I have hangers remorse.

Hangers remorse.  You know, sorta like buyers remorse, but this is after you hang things on your walls and then you sorta regret it, and you don't know if it's because you're not used to having something there or maybe it's because you really do hate it.

So be honest with me and tell me if the things we hung tonight look weird.  Be honest.  Promise?  Okay.

See the "Live, Laugh, Love" thing above the couch?  Does it look weird?

The clock in the entry way... does it look okay?  I'm planning on buying some uppercase living wall words from my SIL to put underneath the clock.  Eh, eh?

--------------

Now, here's some pictures of the basement.  Anyone have any ideas on what to do down here?  Tyler and I are brainstorming but I thought I'd ask you ladies also.  There isn't much wall space, which is fine, but I'm struggling trying to figure out where to place stuff.  Especially in the 3rd picture, you'll see the window and the door are not that far apart, and it's just an awkward space.

Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks all! :)

Weekend recap.

I trust and hope everyone had a great weekend... it was busy and crazy for me, but any time that I'm off of work seems to be that way.  Funny how that works.  Regardless, here's some highlights from my weekend.

1.  I took off for Iowa around noon on Friday... rode with my brother Chad and his wife and kids... it was a fabulous 3 hour trip because I slept the entire way.  Ahh, love naps.  We arrived in Iowa that evening and headed straight to the Botanical Center where the wedding was for rehearsal.  You see, my family is incredible for so many reasons, but one of them is that we make up a band.  My Dad plays trombone, I play trumpet, my brother Chad plays tenor sax, my sister plays alto sax, my not-so-little brother plays bass, and my Mom plays piano.  Fabulous, right?  So our neighbor from our old town asked us to play in her wedding, and while we no means claim to be pro's, it's still fun to play together.  So we had rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, then the girls went shopping for swimsuits, and the guys headed back to the hotel.  I ended up buying a really ugly swimsuit, but it was cheap, so that's all that matters.  The rest of Friday night was spent just hanging around the hotel with the fam.  We always have the best time together, no matter what we're doing.

2.  Friday night I also heard from one of my long lost very good friends of mine.  It was awesome.

3.  Saturday we slept in, practiced, then spent the afternoon shopping.  You have to understand that since I've lost weight I have NO summer clothes.  I'm not saying I have a few things... I literally had nothing.  No shorts, no capris, and no summer shirts.  So I was on a hunt for some relatively cheap summer clothes... you know me; I'd rather spend my money on our house instead of on stupid clothes.  My sister and I headed to Forever21... you know, the most unorganized, upside-down stores in all of America, but here's what I came out with:

Then we headed to American Eagle where I found these:

So, that's what I'll be sportin' throughout the summer.  I know it doesn't seem like much, but I work 5-6 days a week and have to dress up for work... so it's not like I'll have much time that I can wear this stuff anyways.  It stinks being grown-up.  :)

4.  The wedding was beautiful; no big surprise there.  The dance stunk so we left early and headed back to the hotel where we all crashed kinda early.  A lot of my high school friends were back in New Sharon and I debated all night if I should go see them or not... and by the time I said I was going to go it was almost midnight so it wasn't going to even be worth it.  Me and my in-decisiveness.  Blah.

5.  Headed back to Kansas on Sunday and slept the entire way back again.  It was sooo great to be home and see my husband.  He wasn't able to go this weekend because he was in Chicago for part of the week last week and didn't get back until too late and then ended up working on stuff around the house all weekend.  I missed him so much so it was great to see him again.

Overall the weekend was good... my only regrets are that I wish I could have spent more one-on-one time with my sister, and I wish Tyler could have joined us.  I'm really missing my sister right now.  :(  Other than that, it was great.

6.  Here's a few pics of some random things going on around our home!

Tyler and our friend Andy stained our deck this weekend... here's a good picture of the stain we chose.  The deck needed done really bad so Tyler made that a priority before we even moved in that he was going to stain the deck as soon as he could.  They ran out of stain so he's going to finish it during the course of this week.  It looks awesome!!

The flowers in the front of the house are starting to bloom and they are beautiful.  I am so clueless when it comes to plants and flowers... I wish I wasn't.  Anyone know what I have growing here??

Our downstairs furniture finally arrived today!!  Woohoo.  Finally... no more sitting on the ground while we watch TV.  Haha.  You can't really see much in the picture, but we got black leather with a coffee table, 2 side tables and lamps.  We are happy with it!  Now I just need to find some things to go on the walls and figure out how to decorate down there.  Suggestions are welcome!!  :)

Have a great week!!

Because I can't think of anything else to blog about.

Maybe I should - Find time to go to the gym. Go to bed earlier. Read my Bible more.

I love the smell of - grilling, flowers, and my husband.

People would say that I - can be a spaz at times and freak out over stupid, little things.  I also like to think that they would say that I'm a nice, compassionate person.  Haha.

I don’t understand why - I can't make friends.

When I wake up in the morning - I hit the snooze button twice, then try to get in the shower before Tyler because he takes too long.

I lost my willpower to - Resist diet coke.  I'm trying though.

Life is - a huge blessing.  I am blessed.

My past made me- Who I am today, although I can't say that I love who I used to be.  I'm just glad that God is a forgiving God.

I get annoyed when- I have to wake up early, people are rude, I have a fat day, or when I hear about the Clinton/Obama drama.

Parties are not a good time to - be shy.

Dogs are - a lot of work (especially when they pee all over your new house), but they are a good step before kids.

Cats are - Stupid. (Sorry to cat lovers)

Tomorrow is - Friday. Which means I'm headed to Iowa for a wedding... again.

I have low tolerance for - People with lukewarm convictions, spoiled kids, and people who refuse to forgive.

I’m totally terrified of- Losing my husband/family members, not being able to have kids.

I wonder why I thought my life would be- different than it is.

I always knew I would - marry Tyler, be best friends with my sister, be successful.

Never in my life have I - been tempted to smoke.  Gross!

High school was- fun and stress-free.

When I’m nervous- I stutter, get quiet, and avoid eye contact.  It doesn't happen very often though.

One time at a family gathering- I knocked over the VanKooten Christmas tree.

Take my advice- Don't take a single moment for granted.  Especially in your relationships.

Making my bed- Is something I do when I have time, or when company is coming.

I'm almost always- Planning a vacation in my head, thinking of ways to give back to our parents for all they've done, thinking about my husband, missing friendship.

I’m addicted to- the internet and diet coke.

I want someone to- surprise me with a vacation to Bora Bora.

Did you miss me?

I'm baaack!! :)

Well, here's an update.  Monday we were able to get into our home a couple hours earlier than expected, so Tyler, Tiffany (ty's sister), and I drove our 3 vehicles out to our house to start unpacking our cars.  The cars were full of "breakables" - stuff we didn't want to put in boxes.  So once got to the house we took some pictures, unloaded our cars, and immediately started painting.  It was a HOT day in Kansas - the high that day was 87 and being the cheap-o I am, I refused to turn on the AC.  (If you know my Dad, you are probably thinking I sound just like him.)  Anyways, we painted the master bedroom first and that literally took forever.  We used an entire gallon of paint in there and I'm not really sure why... the walls just seemed like it literally sucked the paint in or something.  My family showed up around 7 pm and they changed into their painting close and we all painted until 1:15 AM.  We got most of it completed, except for 2 of the walls in the living room.

Tuesday morning we woke up bright and early and before heading out to the house, Mom and I made a pit-stop at Home Depot to pick up a lawn mower.  Our previous owner was a nice guy (NOT) and didn't mow the lawn for at least 2 weeks before we moved in, so lucky us... we had the longest grass on the street on move in day.  We headed out to the house and finished up the painting.  It took a while because the living room has 20-foot ceilings, so it took a lot of time.  We finished around noon and our incredible realtor stopped by and brought pizza... Tyler and I were so blessed to have such an incredible realtor to work with.  Anyways, that's a whole different story.  Everyone left after lunch to go pick up the moving truck and start tearing down beds/tables/etc at the townhouse.  Mom and I stayed behind to clean up the painting mess and I did a light cleaning on the house before we left.

The loading and unloading of our moving truck was the easiest we've ever had.  All of Tyler's co-workers came (4 of them) and along with my entire family and a few helpers, we had the truck loaded AND unloaded within an hour... and that hour includes the time it took to get to the new house.  It was incredible!  We were so thankful to have so many helpful hands.  :)

Ever since then, Tyler and I have been unpacking... it's never fun to unpack but we are so excited to be in our first house.  Unpacking has taken so much longer since we have so many more options for where to put stuff.  As of today, almost a week later, we literally have less than 5 boxes to go through, so that's exciting.  Yesterday Tyler and I hung all of our decorations in our master bedroom, but other than that, no other walls have anything on them.  It will take time... or so I hear.  :)

Here's a few pictures for you!  Sorry for the long post.  I feel like I have lots to say but I don't want to bore you.  :)

And the painting begins...

And here's a sneak peak of the final product...

(The office)

(Downstairs - it's hard to tell the paint color, but it's a pewter color)

(Master bedroom - wall color is a chocolate brown, tray ceiling is a beige color)

(Living room... the fireplace wall is a brown color, and the other two walls in the room are a few shades lighter.)

-------------------------------

Last but not least I wanted to share a picture of the beautiful flowers that Tyler's Mom Jodi and Jon sent us as a housewarming gift.  They are beautiful and it meant so much to us to receive these at our new house!

-------------------------------

So there's a little preview of what our last week has consisted of. :)

Thank you to our friends and family for helping us pack, load, paint, and unload... and Tiff even helped us unpack some.  THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I'll be back later... I need your advice on some curtains.
