Remember last week when I said that both boys were sick again and I took them to the doctor? Our regular doctor was not there, so I saw one of his associates in the same office. He diagnosed both boys with viral infections, and Jaxon had infintago on his face {which is just some kind of rash on his face that looks like a bad blister}. We went on our merry way, thankful it was nothing serious, and Jaxon got better.
Cohen, however, never got better. Each morning I was hopeful that he would be better that day, but his cough just worsened day by day. It started getting so bad that he would lose his breath while coughing, and yesterday when he vomited everywhere because he was coughing so hard, I had enough. Called the doctor {again} and he told me to come in ASAP.
At first he said "I'm going to be positive and assume it's a basic case of RSV. But I'm going to run some blood tests and send you for an x-ray, just to be safe." Sure enough, the blood work came back and the result was pertussis, which is another name for whooping cough. Our doctor told me it's nothing to joke about, as this is a very serious disease that can cause permanent disability in infants, even death. Yeah, scary stuff huh?
Luckily we caught it early enough that antibiotics will help heal him. Notice I said "help" - because we know the ultimate reason for his healing will be through our Savior, the ultimate physician and healer. We're praying against it, but if he's not showing any improvement by Friday we will have to admit him to the hospital. Healing, healing, healing in Jesus name!!
Cohen is still the happiest baby on the block. I tell ya what -- even inbetween his coughing fits he is smiling and coo-ing, like there's not a care in the world.
Here's a video Tyler took of him last night...
Be still my heart.
Thank you for your prayers for healing for him.
I am totally looking forward to the day that I get to post "MY BOYS ARE HEALTHY!!!"
Soon... very soon. :)
